Who We Are
Online Resources for Chemical Safety in Science Education, CheSSE, is a three-year ERASMUS+ project that started September 1st 2020 and ends August 31st 2023. Our website address is: https://chesse.org.
The University of Oslo (Norway), the University of Helsinki (Finland), the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), and Stockholm University (Sweden) run the project. The aim of CheSSE is to develop condensed, up-to date, online resources about chemical safety in science education.
The Norwegian Centre for Science Education at the University of Oslo (UiO) is the data controller for personal data in this website.
Web analytics
The Norwegian Centre for Science Education collects basic web statistics for chesse.org using the tool Plausible.io. The purpose of this is to gather statistics that we use to document usage, as well as improve and further develop the website. Plausible.io does not use cookies and does not collect personal data.

chesse.org does not use cookies unless you are an author or translator logging in, see below.
Some pages on the website include embedded videos from Vimeo. These are loaded with the Do Not Track parameter (dnt=true), which prevents Vimeo from tracking session data and limits cookies to only those required for secure operation of the player: player_clearance, cf_clearance, _cf_bm and _cfuvid.

On pages containing H5P learning units, the H5P plugin stores a single unique identifier (H5PUserUUID) in your browser’s Local Storage. This identifier is used only to remember your interactions with H5P activities on chesse.org (for example, to resume progress or to avoid showing the same content prompts repeatedly). Local Storage is scoped to this site only and cannot be used for cross‑site tracking. If you wish to remove this identifier, you can clear your site data or Local Storage via your browser settings.
For Authors and Translators of the Website
We store the personal information authors and translator provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
While you use the plugin WPML, this plugin will share data regarding the site through Installer. No data from the user itself will be shared. WPML Media Translation will send the email address and name of each manager and assigned translator as well as the content itself to Advanced Translation Editor and to the translation services which are used. WPML Translation Management will send the email address and name of each manager and assigned translator as well as the content itself to Advanced Translation Editor and to the translation services which are used. WPML String Translation will send all strings to WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor and to the translation services which are used.
Cookies:
- When you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks.
- If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
- If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
- WPML uses cookies to identify the visitor’s current language, the last visited language and the language of users who have logged in.
